What Makes a Good Reader
Nabokov
has a list of 10 things that could make a good reader. Out of those 10 things
he there are 4 important ones. Nabokvo believes a good reader is one who has
imagination, memory, a dictionary, and some artistic sense. Nabokov also states
that a good reader is a re-reader.
Do I Agree with Nabokvo?
I
would have to agree on the majority of those including imagination, memory, and
a dictionary but not in the idea of having some sort of artistic sense and the
idea of rereading. There are other things on his list of 10 that I also think apply to a good reader.
What Do I Believe Makes a Good Reader
My
idea of a good reader is one who can relate, has a vivid imagination, and a
good memory. I also believe it helps to have a dictionary around, just to be sure you are using the words
correctly if you are unclear. You must have an interest in what you are reading, something that you can relate to, putting yourself in one of the characters positions.
Do I Consider Myself a Good Reader
I
consider myself a good reader for I have interest in reading, often find myself
in the shoes or the hero or heroine, and have an imagination like no other! I fit many of the things listed on Nabokvo's list but I dont think you need to be a member of a book club to be a good reader.
